ESA and PIP
« on: October 24, 2017, 04:09:56 PM »
Hi just a quick question.
At present I am on IR ESA in support group. ( just sent back ESA50.j
Can I claim PIP with ESA.
Is it best to wait until I know about whether I will have medical assessment or just apply for PIP?
Thankyou

Hi bub1, I'm assuming you are not currently getting Disability Living Allowance (PIP is the new version of this).  You can certainly receive ESA and PIP at the same time, and I would advise you not to wait but to make your PIP claim straight away as the award normally starts from the date you contact the DWP for the claim form.  You get about 4 - 6 weeks to return the completed form, so you can send any relevant medical evidence with that.

With PIP, 'points win prizes', so - if you've not done so already - worth checking out Monic's pinned thread about the criteria http://ouchtoo.org/index.php?topic=9650.0
