One day is like another Xmas or not. (Pain ! Frustration ! No help from anyone really). I am supposed to have 12 hours care a week . Lucky if I get 5. But still get charged £49.Plus per week regardless.
Now they are going to stop Ryans 5 hours a week, even though he has to pay £52. every week. His income is just the disability stuff.ESA seems OK at this time.  But they are reassesing him for PIP at the moment. 5 cancelled appointments cos they said he was to complicated and needed double Apt. Which has taken 6 months to arranged.  I am getting to the end of my Tether. They arranged some one to talk to as we are both falling to bits. But its run by a Charity and they have lost funding, So they no longer can come to us, We have to travel an hour each way to them.
So as a Taxi is far to much of a drain on our Money or our strengh there is no way we can do it.

I don't understand.  Is that travelling to see them for help with the PIP application?  Is ti the advice people that are cancelling advice appointments or the PIP assessors cancelling assessments?

I don't mean you've phrased it badly, I mean my brain's in go-slow today.

They make an apt but only for 30mlns  so then they don't get back when we phone or someone comes but says I haven't time I need a double. We had to phone at least 10 times. But this time Ryan actually got through to the supervisor, So today a nice lady came and actually rang them and got extra time here. Ryans case is very complicated.  Lets hope it all goes OK. >x-fingers< What happens with me I don't know as I am an OAP and on Disability stuff as well. I have no idea whats happened, I have a bit of memory that says it was done but I can"t find any paper work as all sorts of people were in and out while I was in hospital from early Feb to early July I still seem to be getting DLA payments into my account.  >confused<

Hi Frances, this is what the AgeUK site says about current DLA claimants:

If you were born on or before 8 April 1948 you can continue to receive DLA as long as you still have care or mobility needs

So if the above applies to you, there will be no PIP changeover and you'll stay as you are.

Sorry things are so  >bleep< for you and Ryan right now  >hugs<  I'll say this much though - it will be a travesty of justice if Ryan is denied PIP, given what you've told us over the years about his disabilities.  Let's hope you have a decision this side of Christmas  >x-fingers<

As for you, Lankou - thanks for making me  >lol< , I just love that pic, sums up perfectly  >cool<

I was born in 1944 so I should be OK. Thanks Kizzy. One less thing to worry about.
It seems we will have no care for Ryan as there is no way we can pay ourselves.   Silly thing is he has been running his care himself The account is in his name and he has been paying £52 in every week out of his own money. There is plenty in the account to pay for several months, But they say he can't use it even though most of it came out of his own savings and is in his name..  He used to be able to build up extra to pay for Hospital visits etc. But no more.!!!
Now they have stopped that totally. He has had his time cut to 2 hours a week even though there is lots of money in the account 50% which he payed in himself. They say it is not to be used.GRRRRR

Absolutely senseless, I can't for the life of me understand the reasoning  >doh<  Isn't there anyone in authority you can challenge about this?

Going back to *ahem* Christmas, have already purchased a few gifts but one is proving particularly elusive... There's always one  >erm<  Well, it is available in a few places but at a more premium price than where I first spotted it - when I wasn't sure at that time whether to get it or not, so didn't  >steam<

Don't know about you peeps, but I can actually look forward to Christmas (mainly with regard to the extra food on offer) when all cards written and posted and all presents chosen and bought.  Until then, it can often seem like wot Lankou's funny cat has to say about it...

I have a few things bought but not wrapped yet, canít really bear it until the 2nd week of December.  I dislike the commercial festival and wish it was more focused on the religious side but that tends to get non religious folk annoyed so I just do my own thing. At least 4 weeks work to go before I can down tools for a wee while. >bighugs<

We should do our own thing here on Ouch Too as well  >bighugs<

For me the religious side of Christmas is part of the tradition for anyone who enjoyed/took part in that side of things when they were younger. I like hearing carols and I like it when old Christmas No1 pop songs come on the radio. I wish people a Happy Christmas because I want it to be a happy time for as many people as possible.

I miss going to church holding Mums hand whilst we sang carols, and I miss the way all the shops closed for three days.

With regard to the original point of this thread, I am definitely not here! But then, I have been known to lie for comic effect.

As far as the Christmas thing, I have to agree that the commercialisation of the Religious holiday (after all it is a Holy Day) has become too great, after all without Christ, you only have "mas" as I point out to my non-religious friends!

That's ok, I don't mind people celebrating Yule, Saturnalia, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, The birth of Isa bin Maryam, Profits from the Sales ('sale and profanation', surely? Ed)

One thing that worries me about the commercialisation of the season is that in times like this it not only encourages debt and encourages people to feel left out, but it also turns retail into a farce and makes jobs more seasonal and less secure.  So people are encouraged to spend money whilst many work in jobs where suddenly after Christmas, just as they've run up debts, they have reduced income from no job or fewer hours, so the debt escalates.  I believe that's very dangerous economically.

But the flip side, is that at least if it can be used as an excuse for the people that care to share love and inclusivity, there can be damage limitation.
