Pretty late to develop a conscience I reckon...

A case of jumping before she gets pushed at the next election. The Guardian has an interesting article on it and the Lib Dems are at a low in the opinion polls and their membership numbers and resultant income are both well down. Betrayers and traitors both, who will ever trust them again? I notice she hd no crisis of conscience over welfare and disability cuts though.

As the Guardian readers have said why not resign now rather than waiting until 2015 or does she want to hang on to her salary and generous perks for a bit longer? If she had any integrity she could have triggered a by-election now or would that have been too shaming for the coalition? They would not stand a snowballs chance of re-election.

To be fare she does say that welfare policies were part of the problem.

"I have disagreed with both government and official party lines on a whole range of welfare and immigration policies, and those differences have been getting larger rather than smaller."

Not enough of a problem that she can't continue as a member of the coalition parties though.

The LibDems problem is that their leader, the coward Clegg, thoughts were for himself when he took the LibDems into the coalition. Clegg knows and knew full well that this coalition was his only chance in hell of ever tasting power albeit as a puppet in Cameron's government.
