Support for petition on inappropriate use of benefit tests
« on: January 20, 2016, 06:52:04 PM »
it's a shame my petition doesn't make a lot more sense, OMG they hardly let you have enough characters for a tweet! Basically this petition is asking that they don't use benefit provision as a test for other concessions unless the things tested by the benefit test are directly relevant. Background - I am not entitled to a bus concession which is explicitly targeted as "Help for someone to push your wheelchair or carry your shopping" because I don't get enough PIP daily living - which tests your ability to shower, go to the toilet, cook... I don't do any of those things ON THE BUS. I'd like to see it made illegal under discrimination law to use one test as a yardstick for an utterly unrelated concession.

I can't link to the full petition yet as you have to get 5 people to click first before it goes live. Really looking for 5 people to get it going so I can share it more widely.

Can someone try this link and see if it works? Otherwise it looks like it only works if I forward the link to an actual email address and then after 5 supports by email it can go live with the normal online link.

Just curious but who made up the rule that you cant get a bus pass cos you don't need someone to push your chair?
I get a bus pass cos I can't drive for medical reasons ( uncontrolled epilepsy) and recently heard 2 bitchy teenagers laughing cos someone ran for the bus and then used a disabled pass when they came on the bus.

this is a local policy, and it's actually not that I can't get a bus pass because I don't need someone to push my wheelchair, it's much stupider than that. I can't get a bus pass explicitly FOR someone to push my wheelchair becuase I don't need enough help with showering and using the toilet. Not activities I've ever done on the bus, but if they don't change their policy it's something I may start.

Petition is now live! I'm practically invisible on Facebook now because of their stupid new processes, so anyone with anywhere to share it, please do.

I'm not especially well connected but I've signed and shared it via Facebook.
