And their problem is?
« on: February 04, 2012, 06:54:10 AM »
More DWP-sponsored propaganda from one of our least-trustworthy tabloids.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4108357/10m-lotto-winners-still-taking-500-benefit.html

How very strange that they've somehow forgotten to mention that our Prime Minister, who is also a very wealthy man and unlike this couple has lived a privileged existence for his entire life, used to claim exactly the same benefit for his disabled son.

They really are scum.

And wrong. Because for some, it would mean no blue badge.

What a surprise - they mention a free car.

Readers comments are the same old judgemental rubbish - when will they get it in their heads, DLA is NOT an out of work benefit, and we do not get free cars >steam<

There are actually a few decent comments, but Daily Mail readers en masse aren't exactly known for their analyical skills. There was a recent survey saying that right-wing people were in general less intelligent than those on the left. Point proven.

This story has made me angrier than anything else I've seen in the press. A decent, elderly couple who have worked all their lives have a bit of luck and are stigmatised as scroungers even though Cameron did exactly the same thing, and unlike him they give a lot of it away. Yet apparently they're parasites, whereas the Prime Minister is an honest upstanding citizen.

It's an exact reversal of the truth.

Just been reading The Sun's readers comments. One person thinks they get 500K a month...

I don't get the issue here:

It's not as if he's claimed "I can't walk" and is running a marathon.

He is as much as entitled to DLA as someone whose only income is ESA.

Perhaps the silly rag should run a few articles about some wealthy folk who are still receiving the other non-means tested payment which is Child Benefit ... Nah, it's easier to pick on disabled people, innit?

I didn't see that many foul comments, more that it is morally wrong.

And it is morally wrong.

God help him if he is found to be "recovered", or not as bad as he claimed.... he is on HRC and HRM. (Which sort of follows the line of thinking that the lifers may need to be looked at again)

Can anyone on here with joint problems in their hands hold a bottle up like that?

and the winter fuel allowance.

Did used to know someone whose husband claimed Attendance Allowance who didn't need it. She claimed he was entitled because he had a crap upbringing. They donate it to charity and use the winter fuel allowance for taxis.
