Strawberries etc with stalks!
« on: May 23, 2014, 08:05:37 PM »
Hi All,
Has anyone else noticed the high number of TV adverticements that feature strawberries and other fresh local produce bening offered for consumption complete with their stalks/leaves/foliage?
For some reason this really anoyes me as I would not dream of doing so at home. The Plusnet and Devon Custard TV advertisements spring to mind first!
Any thoughts? or is it just me?
Regards

Perhaps the people who create the adverts think that the general public might not know what something is if it is not in it natural and untouched state bar a nice rinse of fresh cold mountain rainwater from the lands of silvery white unicorns with delicate pure white feathered wings.  >erm<

It is an old marketing ploy.  Green leaves means freshness, purity, health etc.  More so if there are a few raindrops on the leaves.

I am from a time when Artic Roll or Viennetta what people thought of as dessert and strawberries cost too much unless you picked them in the fields yourself.

Mum used to buy Golden Delicious Apples, and bananas nothing actually proper green so strawberry leaves in a bowl to eat does look 'molly'.

I am from a time before Viennetta was invented, Sunshine.  ;-)
What does "molly" mean?

I'm lucky enough not to see TV ads, AO - no telly here. >biggrin<
Advertisers often use green leaves, running water, grass & trees or sandy beaches in the sunshine to get people in a certain mood before introducing the product they want to associate with that mood.  For other products they will aim for exciting or mysterious moods. :-)

Like beautiful camels eating stuff in the sunshine lying next to a oasis that has exotic flowers growing around it.

Molly is also the slang term for MDMA the main drug found in Ecstasy in its pure form distributed in capsules hence the term popping a Molly.

 >lol< I tried Herbal Essence shampoo and it did not work or me - left my hair lank

Dic,

Yes I saw that too when I I checked the definition of molly before I posted.
My use of molly must be dated  :-)
