News just in of Tony Nicklinson's death. Don't know how he found the exit, but he did. May he now rest, in peace; may his loving family have peace.

I am glad he got what he wanted, but saddened by the way he had to fight for his peace.

May all find peace.

Maybe I have a suspicious mind, but when I heard the news, I wondered did he have assistance, or did he simply give up?

From the BBC:

His family said he died at home at 10:00 BST after contracting pneumonia.

Rest in peace.

Just seen this on News24 - I think he virtually willed himself to die after learning he would not be able to count on anybody else to bring about the end he desired.  I am relieved for him - but inevitably similar cases are going to arise in the future, so I hope the laws on 'assisted suicide' can be looked at again.

That poor man. I hope he didn't suffer too much at the very end, and I hope he's finally at peace.

Oldtone, I thought the same thing, about him having help..

Not that it matters now, what's done is done and I wish him the peace he couldn't find on this side of eternity.  RIP, Tony.

Apparently his wife said that the fight went out of him after the court's decision and the news said he died of natural causes....
May he now rest in peace at last, my thoughts are with his family

I suspect a day of both sadness and happiness for those close to him. My thoughts are with them.

I couldn't agree more.  At least they know he is at peace now and that all the fighting is over.

Take care on your last journey Tony.. sorry the previous one had to be such a hard ride.. hope someday the law will be changed so people can make an active choice .

I ampleased for himthat he has got what he longed for but still angry that he had to go thru what he did.

He had refused any nourishment after his massive disappointment, which caused the pneumonia to be more dangerous to his continuing to live.

I hope that he died in his sleep, and had a totally pain-free departure.

May the next rebirth be better.

My thoughts are with the family and the mixture of emotions they must be feeling.

I wasn't at all surprised that he lost the court case, but I felt for him and wished he'd had a more peaceful end. In his case, I think he should have been allowed to die with more dignity.

I am pleased that he went so soon after the court result.  He sounds like a very thoughtful man.  They had a record of him talking via his computer on the radio this afternoon.  Unfortunately I did not hear it all. Did anyone else catch it?

I have no doubt that more people will take up the cause until the law is tweaked to allow this type of case to be an exemption from prosecution.
