I do like onions - spring, red, brown.  Raw, fried, roasted or baked. Caramalized onion chutney and pickled onions.  In salads, sandwiches, stews, Bolognese, chilli, with sausages and so on.

Onions have lots of health benefits for the body too.

I used to stick cloves in an onion boil in milk then use the milk to make bread sauce and eat the onion I also like braised liver with onion and bacon.

DD and Frances, all seems quite virtuous for Christmas Day... At lunchtime, I tucked into the usual turkey-with-all-the-trimmings dinner with lemon meringue roulade and cream for pud, and in an hour or so the cheese and biscuits will be coming out, with salad bits and pieces and assorted savoury snacky things.  Followed by chocolates and nuts, probably - maybe even a small piece of Marks and Spencer stollen cake. Might need some Gaviscon tonight  >yikes<

I've just had a savoury cheese spread sandwich. Quite tasty, but the filling was not fit for purpose as the mayonnaise was too runny so it dripped everywhere.

One essential attribute of a sandwich filling is that it fills the sandwich (hint in the name) and not escape when the sandwich is lifted to one's mouth.
