Auntie, can you buy a Radar Key from your local council for your own use?

You could always buy a spare for the gym (make them pay for it) and suggest they sign it out and make people pay a deposit.

Or buy a key and when you use the facilities lock the door when you leave, they will then have to get a replacement key in order to access the place them selves.

good suggestions.  I do have a Radar key, which has proved very handy at times.  When I next go to the gym I'm going to see whether they have a replacement and then suggest that maybe they get themselves another one.

How much are they?  I'm sure that I only paid about 5 for mine.

I googled "radar key" and the top result was that Radar themselves will send you one for 4 (2.25 for the key and 1.75 p&p). http://www.radar-shop.org.uk/Detail.aspx?id=0

Less legitimate websites have them available from 1.

Some charities particularly concerned with incontinence issues will provide them for about 1. I think at the DIAL office in the town where I used to live, you could go in and buy one... your local Shopmobility might also have clues.

I bought mine at an exhibition of disabled products.  I'm so glad that I did.  I do not use it for months and months at a time, but then when I need it it averts problems.

Useful information, thanks Bats.  I should have googled it myself, shouldn't I?

The Radar website declines payment from me no matter what I do. It did this last time I tried too.

The local Council I work for supplies Radar keys free to residents of the Borough with a disability.
They ask to see a Blue Badge or letter from DWP showing entitlement to DLA or Attendance Allowance as proof of disability and residence within the Borough.
